The latest Microsoft “Developer Direct” premiered earlier today and it was a nice sampler of what’s to come for Xbox and Game Pass in 2024.
Something that irked me though…
Troy Baker voicing Indy in MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle! I get that Harrison Ford might sound a little more *ahem* distinguished and gravelly in his golden years, but Baker voicing Ford’s likeness is just the latest example of how the movie industry still little bros video games.
And, it’s nothing against Troy Baker himself. He does a great job imitating Indy in the reveal trailer — along with voicing what seems like *every* game protagonist in the last decade — but it would’ve been nice for Ford to bring his original dulcet tones to what looks like a banger of a game.

Clearly, he’s not too old to star and voice a younger android in the last film in the franchise: “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s just a little disappointing that while game makers chase around the movie industry like lost puppies…the same respect is not extended the other way around. Even when games have dwarfed Hollywood for a while now.
On the gameplay side of things, I have full confidence in MachineGames — along with Todd Howard at the helm — to produce a great Indiana Jones game.
After all, they already have experience developing Nazi-killing simulators with the rebooted *Wolfenstein* games as they’re last offerings. The fedora-donning Dr. Jones should be in more-than-capable hands.
MachineGames’ Twitter descriptor/video gives you everything you need to know about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle:
“#IndianaJones and the Great Circle features a mix of stealth, heart pounding melee combat, and gunplay to combat the enemy threat and unravel the mystery. And of course…
…Indy’s whip!
Use it to distract, disarm, and attack enemies as well as traversing the environment.”
